Don't you just hate it when you read or hear something and you can't remember where it is from so you can't go back to it? That's happening to me right now. Gratitude. It's on my mind. I know I've heard about it recently, but really I hear about it all the time. I hear about how it can change your life to develop a practice of gratitude. So even though I can't remember where I heard about it most recently, gratitude has been a centering theme for me.
I recently made a Facebook post about how grateful I am that preparing for my work requires I listen to some beautiful music. It just fills my home and heart and creates an amazing energy of peaceful intention for the parents and baby's coming experience. But even more than that are the amazing stories about how Creative Arts Birthing or Music Therapy Assisted Childbirth has touched the lives of parents and babies. There was one mom who planned to get an epidural, but was using the movements she learned in CAB. She was doing so well that her nurse encouraged her to do an un-medicated labor. What a powerful choice. There was another mom who-after more than 5 hours of pushing, gave birth, and immediately said "Well, I'm not afraid of anything anymore." So much power in that statement. And there was the mom who knew intuitively she would need a c-section. The events of her birth confirmed her intuition and she was fully prepared physically and emotionally for the surgery. She used her music therapy services to write a song with her family to celebrate the birth of her baby. She had power in her knowledge of what her body was telling her.
So that is one of the things that I'm grateful for today/this week/forever. That I get to see families be amazing.
