I had been becoming agitated the night before with things not going as I’d like. Things I wanted to have happen weren’t happening. I knew that I had to give it time, but it’s hard to wait when you don’t know if things you want to have happen will happen in a timely matter, if at all.
Then something happened that gave me pause. I woke up before everyone else one Sunday morning to find my cat wanting to be let in. I went to let my furbaby in from the backyard, when I saw a most peculiar thing on that beautiful sunny day. My little backyard was brightened by the glorious summer sun. And yet, as I looked to my right, something very different was happening to my neighbor’s yard: over her lovely vegetable garden was a raincloud, as if it were made just for her. I stood there and stared. I looked up to see if I could even see dark clouds above. Absolutely nothing. The only indication that there was a raincloud was the rain itself, watering the only thing that was really in need of a little extra rain. I was so mesmerized I walked over to her garden to feel the rain. A cool, refreshing shower, special ordered for her.
It gave me reason to look at things with a little bit better perspective. I reflected on how much pregnancy, birth, and parenthood is just one big game of chance. Pregnancy happens in a plethora of ways and rarely on schedule. Due dates should be renamed “Guess dates.” Milestones are more like guide lines. And yet, like that raincloud, just what we’ve been waiting for comes to us at just the right time in just the right place.
So dearest blog readers, whether you’re waiting to get pregnant, waiting for your baby to make their arrival, waiting for them to learn to crawl, or whatever else seems to be taking its sweet time to show up, remember: there’s a raincloud just for you out there that will be in the right place at the right time.
Thanks to Victoria for writing such a lovely blog post.
